ORCiD

It’s strongly recommended that you connect your ORCID to ensure your datasets and NTROs are linked to your researcher profile.

Step 1: Connect ORCID in figshare

• Log in to Federation.figshare and complete your profile, including linking your ORCID
• If you skipped this step, go to your user icon → Applications
• Select Connect ORCID, then choose Push data to my ORCID (other options are optional)

Step 2: Enable automatic updates in ORCID

• Log in to your ORCID record
• Go to Works → Add → Search & link
• Select DataCite

This allows your figshare outputs to be automatically added to your ORCID record.

GitHub

Linking GitHub lets you share code alongside your research and clearly indicate which version was used.

To connect GitHub:

• Go to My data and click the GitHub (Octocat) icon
• Select Connect and log in to GitHub
• Click Authorize application
• Choose repositories and select Import selected repos

You can then add metadata or finalise the item for publication.
