Question

What types of content can I publish in Federation.figshare?

Last updated: Jun 24, 2026    12 views

Federation University researchers are encouraged to make Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs) openly available via Federation.figshare. These may include performance recordings, exhibition catalogues, datasets, code, software, images, and research reports without an ISBN.

Where possible, outputs should be shared under a Creative Commons or other appropriate licence.

You can publish NTROs that:

  • Were created while you were formally affiliated with Federation University
  • Can be made openly available under the terms of any relevant publishing or licensing agreements

Published items are retained permanently.

What can’t be included?

The following types of material are not suitable for deposit:

  • HDR theses
  • Publications already indexed in databases such as Scopus or Web of Science
  • Material intended for commercialisation or personal revenue
  • Content containing confidential or sensitive information
