You can place a hold on items that are out on loan (items with a due date) or with a status "Available".

Items held at other Federation campus libraries can also be requested and delivered to your preferred campus library for pickup.

To place a hold:

SEARCH THE CATALOGUE

Go to the Library homepage. You can search via the Catalogue or QuickSearch

1. To search via the Catalogue

Click on Catalogue to bring up the Keyword search box.

Search for the book you want and then Click on the title of the book which will take you to the full record screen. To place the hold Click on the Request button in the top menu bar.

2. To search via QuickSearch

Search for the book you want and then Click on the "Available at" link which will take you to the full record screen. To place the hold Click on the Request button in the top menu bar.

Tip on searching: the quickest way to locate a book is to enter a combination of words from the title of the book plus the author's surname. To search for the book " Ecology of Australian freshwater fishes" edited by Paul Humphries you would enter the keywords "ecology freshwater humphries" for a direct hit.

LOGIN AND SELECT PICKUP LOCATION

Login using your Federation university ID number and password or if you are a staff member enter your Username and password

Once logged in an "Information about Holds/Requests" screen will display.

Scroll down to the Pickup location box and Select from the drop down menu the campus library you would like to collect your book from. or Select Postal Delivery.

Partner Staff and Students should choose your Partner Institute.  If you are not a Partner Student or Staff member you cannot collect from these institutes, instead select Postal Delivery.

If you select Postal Delivery enter your current address in the box provided.

The "Cancel if not filled by" date is optional.

Click on the Submit button.

A message will display confirming that your hold has been placed.

"Your request for Ecology of Australian freshwater fishes / edited by Paul Humphries & Keith Walker, was successful"

NOTIFICATION THAT YOUR HOLD IS READY FOR COLLECTION

You will be notified via your student/staff email when the item you requested is ready to collect.

The item will be held on the Holds shelf, under the first four letters of your surname, at the campus library you selected for pickup.

You have seven days to collect your hold before it is removed from the Holds shelf.

Textbooks must be collected within three days. If a textbook is in heavy demand then the loan period may be shortened.

CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR HOLD

To check the status of your hold go to My Library login (this is your library borrowing record) or download the MyLibrary! app.

CANCEL A HOLD

If you decide you want to cancel a hold go to My Library login or the MyLibrary! app.
